A Violent Paradise (Semi-Open RP)

A Violent Paradise is invite only. One is allowed to PM a request for entry. This request can be denied, so... yeah.

Rules/Regulations(Subject to change)

A Violent Paradise is a Freeform RP thread
What is Free Form Roleplaying?
Free Form Roleplaying is a medium in which little or no rules are used for roleplaying. In a way, it could be considered more as a collaborating creative writing game. There are no dice to roll or any real rules on what can or can't be done during roleplaying. Mostly, what your character can and can not do is limited to the type of character you're playing and the storyline that is currently being played out.

Free form roleplaying is about collaboration. You are interacting with other writers in the story so most of the time you have to be sure you are not over-stepping your bounds by controlling another person's character.

No Godmodding

This includes being invincible(or nigh invincible) when you clearly should not be. Chances are if one happens to be locked in a room with noxious gases being poured in, they won't survive it.
This also includes pulling miraculous life saving devices/skills out of nowhere. Bomb about to go off and someone is suddenly a demolitions expert? Pulling a gas mask out of nowhere as soon as some tear gas is let loose? Etc. These things are not okay.

Being too powerful. It doesn't matter how pro of a sniper your character is, if their arm is broken and the room is engulfed in smoke, chances are, they aren't going to make a clean shot.

Forcing another person's hand/imposing actions.

Ex: Guy A punches guy B in the face. :naughty:

Ex: Guy A throws a right jab toward Guy B's face.

At least 90% spelling and grammar accuracy is to be maintained.

Not trying to be overbearing, but poor spelling and grammar hurts eyes and cripples simple thought processes.

Failure to adhere to these rules can get you removed from the thread. Don't worry, you get warnings. :Peace:

There are also exceptions to the rules assuming you discuss it with someone privately.

Ex: Guy X PMs Guy Y, "Hey, is it okay if I do A to character B?"
Guy Y replies, "Sure."

That's okay as long as it only affects those two. That does not give Guy X to do A to Guy Z.
Yall pickin' up what I'm layin' down?

Any questions, comments, concerns, pleas, PM me.

Financial District - 8:45 P.M. - Shadeleaf Apartments

"Damn it's hot today..." Rayleigh said as she closed the refrigerator, "These are the days I miss living in the Waterfront." She took a sip of the water she just grabbed and then sat the bottle down on the counter.

Rayleigh lived by herself in a decently nice 2 bedroom apartment on the second floor with a great view of...well San Paro. Not much more really needs to be said.

Walking back into her room, Rayleigh went straight over to her stereo and fiddle around a bit. "There you are..." Rayleigh said with a slight smile on her face, "I love Mute Math." Turning up the volume, the song Clipping began blaring and she resumed her position at her workstation of sorts.

Rayleigh had often spent time making her own clothing, feeling that it was really the only way to have a truly unique style.
"Hrm...almost done," Rayleigh said as she began to analyze her nearly finished product.

"Now I just have to-" Rayleigh was cut off by crashing and rustling that could be heard in her apartment. "Shit," she thought to herself as she grabbed her aluminum baseball bat and crept into the hallway toward the living room. As she grew closer, a man whose face was concealed stepped into the hallway. There was a bit of an eerie silence that was quickly broken by an unhealthy mixture of heavy breathing, intense heartbeat, and the sound of aluminum and bone meeting one another.

Before Rayleigh could even attempt to unmask her intruder, she was stopped by another voice and a gun being pointed at her from just inside the doorway. "Drop it," the other intruder said. Hesitantly, she dropped the bat, but not without asking the man, "Why are you doing this?" The man ignored the question and instead called out to his friend, "Dan, you okay?"

With a bit of a groan, Dan brought himself to his feet and responded, "I think she broke my arm. Why didn't you shoot her?!" "Don't worry about it," the man responded, "Just finish grabbing the stuff and come on." Dan gave Rayleigh a quick boot to the back, taking her down to the ground, "Bitch." "Dan, quit messing around and finish up!" the other man shouted to him.

A few moments later, Dan comes back, "Ey, Nick, I found some car keys." "Good, let's get the hell out of here," Nick responded. Nick took a quick peek out of the front door into the hallway before motioning to Dan that it was clear. Dan headed out of the door first. Rayleigh was forced out behind him by Nick who called up to Dan, "Keep your eyes open. This doesn't feel right, man..."

Dan called back, "Man, we're Black Diamond. It's about time we started pulling shit off this clean..."

Financial District - 8:30 PM - San Paro Sheriff's Department Primary Precinct

Sheriff Adams rested his head in his hands.

another three murders today... no closer to solving the 17 from last week...

His office sat squarely in the North corner of Precinct's eighteenth floor, overlooking the far stretches of the city... Adams stood from his desk and looked out the plate-glass windows.

The crime piled up outside on the streets, so close he could hear it. But he was stuck here. behind a name-plate enscribed "Sheriff Ace Adams" and coffee cup with "World's #1 Chief" printed on the side from his glory days in Paradise City...

But those were simpler times...

He turned again to face the fray, the men and women, in and out of uniform scrambling around working frantically as though somehow, if they only put enough of their life and soul into this thing... maybe... one day....

bah...

Gathering his things, Adams headed down to the garage. Starting his car, he pulled out onto the street and headed home...

The streetlights began to shine brighter as the night became heavy. A police car, one of his own, sped by with lights and sirens, dissapearing into the distance... If only he could banish this life of beurocracy for the old uniform he'd loved so much over the years... Jump back on the streets and DO something...

but what was the use?

"~ShadeLeaf Apartments~" read the awning over the apartment complex's front doors...
Adams pulled over and stepped out. walking around, he forgot a police report on the passenger seat, and walked back to his car to retrieve it.
A sound of an engine revving briefly distracted Adams' attention... Just enough to notice the vehicle... Which was just enough to make him double-take.

His neighbor's vehicle sped off past him. down the street and around the corner... But his neighbor wasn't driving...

Adams rushed into the apartments, burst into the stairwell and began taking steps two at a time... Adams slid into the hallway and rushed up to his neighbor's apartment.

"Lee?!" Adam's shouted, as he came to a broken door and scattered personal items in the hallway. "Lee! You alright?!"

Feeling overload
Carrying bottled skies around
I've been drowning all along
Wearing out in a faltered sea
And I give up

She knew that song. Grey eyes turned upwards toward the level of the building to the woman's right. The words were faint, and the quality wasn't anywhere near what she was used to, but she could deal. With all of her gear packed up at The House, she didn't really have a choice on quality if she wanted to listen to something she enjoyed. Pacing her lanky form toward the steps that lead up to the building she sets herself down, leaning her head lazily back and rolling her shoulders in a stretch as a hand starts to fish into her pocket.

Common sense failed again
Meddling in a foreign scene
Time won't spare another sun
Daring me with another choice another choice

Broken finger-nails manage to wrangle out the catch she was looking for, quickly after retracting the blunt from her jeans and poising it between her lips while the same hand delves into the same pocket for a lighter. Click. Click. Her breath held, waiting for the smoke to accumulate within the paper before taking a long drag, then letting the smoke bellow out from her cracked lips like a chimney. In the moment of her first inhale, she barely noticed the nervous pair of men scrambling from the door. She would have completely missed them, actually. If one of them hadn't mistakenly stepped over her shoe causing a throaty grumble from the girl. Those grey eyes turned up again, getting a good look at both of the men in the dimly-lit streets with a scoff. She could sense that something was wrong, but she wasn't in the mood to play super heroine today.

Soon after she'd lost interest in the hooligans, her second interruption took form in the shook up man following soon after the start of the engine. Her lids fall over her eyes slowly, taking her time to watch the stranger sprint up the steps. For a moment, a pang of guilt strikes her, but the joint in her hand and its effects on her mind wouldn't let her dwell on it for long. Soon the man is out of sight, and again she's left with the bustling of the streets.

After a couple more drags, the guilt of not stopping the first two men that came tumbling down the steps had vanished, but her curiosity hadn't. Trying her hardest to tune out the sounds of the city around her, she listens into the building she set herself outside of. Faintly, she could hear the man shout.

""Lee?! Lee! You alright?!"

Rayleigh had awaken again to be in the back seat of her own car, still with those Black Diamond thieves.
"Aaagh, my head..." Rayleigh said as she went to rub the back of her head but was unable too for her hands were bound by zip-ties behind her back.

"Well look who's awake, Nick." Dan called up to the driver seat. Before Nick even had a chance to respond, Rayleigh lashed out at Dan, "You hit me again, didn't you?! You're so lucky I-" She was quickly cut off by a quick hit in the stomach. "Next time I'm going to break your nose," Dan snorted with a frown on his face.

Nick called back from the front seat, "Aw, come on...you wouldn't want to ruin that pretty face now, would you?" Both him and Dan laughed.

A few minutes later the car pulls into the back of what looks like a warehouse building, but based off of all the lights and the blaring music, it's most definitely a club. Nick and Dan get out of the car and let Rayleigh out as well. Heading inside they immediately go upstairs. The second floor is alot more subtle. A few people in booths here and there, a couple of guys getting lapdances, among other things.

"Well this is classy," Rayleigh thought to herself as she was lead into a back office. There were two bodyguards, one outside the door and one inside. A man in a high-backed chair swiveled around to look at the 3 that had just entered, "What did you get?" Nick responded, "Some jewelry, some cash, laptop, phone, and a car. A Mazda 3 to be exact. Has a few aftermarket parts on it, not much, but it's worth something."

"Alright. You're dismissed," the man said to Dan and Nick. One of his guards closed the door behind them leaving Rayleigh still in the room with the man. He motioned to his guard to cut the zip-tie and then motioned to Rayleigh to have a seat which she reluctantly took. The man fiddled around at his desk a bit before looking back at Rayleigh, "Let's talk..."

----

Meanwhile Nick and Dan headed back down to where they'd parked the stolen vehicle and as they were getting back in Nick said to Dan, "I kinda don't wanna give this up, man..." Dan sighed, "It's just a damn car, come on." Nick frowned and threw the car in reverse, backing out into the street...

The whole second floor of the Apartment complex had been sealed behind police tape as Sheriff's Deputies worked in tandum with an Arbiter's United CSI unit and Section X special investigator piecing together what occurred. It was under an hour after Rayleigh's kidnapping, but Adams had brought everyone in.

No one screws with my neighbors.

Adam's glanced over, saw a Sergeant walking toward him.

"What've you got for me Woodard?"

"Sheriff, it looks to us like the work of a start-up gang from about a year ago... They call themselves "Black Diamond" made up of mostly Resistance members who couldn't fit the profile. Kinda like a group of rejects, but with fire power. They destroyed half a city-block last month in a huge heist on third."

"How can you tell it's them?"

"This." Woodard said, handing Adams a small evidence bag, revealng inside a small but noticable diamond with a dark tint to it.

"It's not a real diamond, they normally just dye a bunch of cubic zirconia a few shades darker and it serves the same purpose..."

"Can we move on them?" Adams aked Woodard.

"Yes Sir. I've already called Villicana. He's mobilizing CHAOS. Alpha unit should reach the compound with the hour."

"Sounds good. keep me in the loop. I might just have to pay these guys a little visit myself..."

Fffffttthpclack.

The rear end of the car sagged. As the rubber sheared away, the wheel spun violently, hurling sparks out across the sidewalk.

A small kettle screamed bloody murder in a dull and fading memory. As the lights swirled, a small boy had trouble focusing his eyes. Silver glinted; cinders danced on air currents, and the air burned with powder, bone and desire born of hellfire and seduction. Any small yearning for peace and concordance with values learned and bred, any leaning, any falling, any curse, any song, any shadow on the wall too indistinct to be a chair but too solid to be a shade, any hope for worlds distant and unexplored died with the echo of sin spoken too loudly in a silent, but attended hall.

Fffffttthpclack. Fffffttthpclack.

Ping, dung, ding ding, ding...

A small wisp of gas rose from the barrel of the tactical assault rifle as the two shells bounced across the hood. Sergeant Villicana, his face emotionless, squeezed the trigger again. He'd known there was a woman in the vehicle. Harrison had mentioned it. He had not cared.

Fffffttthpclack. Ping, ding, ding dung...

If the woman caught a bullet, he would grieve. If not, well, that was certainly not a bad way to have it. Civilians, for all their necessity, have this irritating habit of being unprepared to do what is necessary to survive. It's such a strange contradiction, he thinks, that the average person might spend their whole lives fighting to survive, yet surrender to fear when the most crucial moment arrives. Though anger, disbelief, or even complete clarity might be granted to the condemned, they rarely take that chance, that one in a million, the one half of one-tenth of a percent chance that, though today has been a frightfully bad day, survival might indeed be possible.

"Prove me wrong Rayleigh," he mutters. The remains of both driver-side tires lay scattered in the street. Releasing his breath, he lines up the driver. Nicholas, was it? He didn't know their faces apart, but he'd gotten their names from the door man.

"So... all I would have to do is work for you and then you'll let me go free?" Rayleigh asked the man, whose name was Jackson.

"Something like that," he replied.

"And if I refuse?"

"Well then I'll just send you to that club down the street where all the other fat bitches work, or have my men dis-" Jackson had been cut off by Rayleigh, "Fat bitch?!" flashing into a rage she went for Jackson, but was stopped by the sound of a gun cocking behind her.

"Now now, it's unattractive to act that way. You'll scare off customers, dear." Jackson said to her with a sly smirk on his face.

Rayleigh sat back down and sighed, thinking to herself, "How did I manage to get caught up in this?"

-----------

"Down, down!" Nick shouted to Dan as the car began to take fire.

"Who the hell was that?"

"Who the hell cares, we need to get out of-" Nick was cut off as the car began to pull and swerve on its own from the tires being shredded.

"What the hell man?!" Dan shouted.

"I think he got the tires," Nick said as he pulled the car around a corner to hopefully break the line of sight, "I think we can still make it to the chop shop..."

"No. Hell no. Whoever that was, we're takin' em down," Dan said angrily.

"We don't have time for all that man, we-" Nick was cut off.

"Look, you take this POS car, and I'll go take care of whoever that was." Dan said as he motioned to get out of the car.

"Fine." Nick pulled away as Dan started walking back toward the club, G36C in hand.

Oh, one of them wants to play?

Adrian relaxed his finger, and let the rifle slide slowly off the hood of the vehicle. No good being spotted here. Cradling the weapon in both hands, he crouchwalked the length of the vehicle until he was behind a larger sport utility vehicle, which had been parallel parked just behind his. From his viewpoint here, two blocks away, he could see the Mazda limp around the corner, sparks flying like water from a forsaken sprinkler. The driver must be trying to take the car to the shop.

Taking up a ready position behind the Land Rover, Adrian made sure that his body would not be exposed to gunfire, not even his feet. Unsure as to which passenger he might be dealing with, he examined his options. According to the woman he'd spoken to in the parking lot, Nick was a pretty good shot. Dan however, was not generally prepared for unexpected developments. Would the perp manage to keep a cool head? He hoped so. He needed this one alive.

She was curious, but not curious enough to actually take the time to get off her ass. Luckily for her, the question would answer itself within the hour.

Even though she was obviously in the way, Farah wasn't asked to move off of the steps infront of the building. It was almost entertaining in a way, that she could sit there with her second blunt in hand only feet away from yellow tape. It just showed how things were in the city. Cops fought bad guys, they really didn't have much time for anything else. Finally smoking down the last bit of the joint she leaned back, lazily sprawling her frame down the stairs while trying to bob her head under the tape over and over again. She could probably go home, but what were the chances that something more interesting than a whole bunch of men in blue standing around trying to figure out a puzzle without doing the obvious answer? She chuckled lightly, hiding her eyes behind the thin tape. They could have taken twenty seconds to ask the stoned witness who dunnit, but boys would be boys. Why ask questions when you can prove it with the massive CSI kits she'd seen drudged passed the door.

She noticed one of the man pacing out of the door, looking obviously determined. Either this one had hit close to home, or the guy took his work way, way too personally.

"It was the butler you know."

Farah chimes, always happy to be a nuisance as she finally took the initiative to get off of the stoop. She doubted any of our busy little beavers at the scene would reply, and turned her back to the apartment house as soon as she got to her feet. It had gotten boring. And she could really dig a bagel. With the sound of her torn up sneakers kicking against the concrete she slowly moved away, cursing her inability to remember where the nearest coffee house was.

"Guy thinks he can mess with Black Diamond. He don't know who he messin' with." Dan thought to himself. He slipped behind a column and put his back up against it, "This guy got no idea what I'm packin' right now."

With a sly smirk creeping across his face, he ejected the clip from his G36 and replaced it with a 100-round drum. He peeked out around from behind the pillar to see if he could find his opponent. Nothing. With an even wider smirk spreading across his face, he unclipped a cylindrical device more commonly known as a flashbang grenade and chucked it out into the street, toward where he expected his opponent to be.

"One...two...three..." Dan counted in his head before he dipped out from behind the column and began moving toward his opponents general direction and began spraying...

Clack, clack,shhhrrrk... ... ... faboom!

Counting five after the flashbang popped about near the vehicle where he'd originally stationed himself, Adrian took a peek through the glass of the vehicle. The man was hoofing it down the sidewalk, spraying automatic fire in ten-round bursts. This guy...

Brappapapapappap.

That stiff report... a G36? He'd have to be careful not to soak a bullet from a gun like that. Though low in calibre, a weapon like that was easily capable of inflicting hydrostatic shock, and a quick death, even with just a single round. His own weapon, an M15A4, was surely a capable weapon-- but not in the same class. As the corners of his lips twitched up in a smirk, Adrian stepped out from behind the SUV, his weapon raised. It's a good thing that a weapon is only as good as the man behind the trigger. Pressing the trigger gently, he let out his breath as the sharp sound of gunfire rang in his ears.

Ratatatatak.

Angels flew overhead-- steel angels, whistling down from the heavens. Their words, like screams, tore at the earth-- as the dirt gave way, a sea of blood rushed to meet its maker, shining brilliantly above.

"Gotta get out of here, gotta get out of here..." Rayleigh thought to herself as she weighed her options.

"I could go for the guy behind the desk, but then I'd be too far away from the guard with the gun. Not to mention I don't know what he's packing. Ugh, I wish I had a knife or something.

Rayleigh began to casually look around the room, but was cut off by Jackson, "Pay attention, miss. I'm assuming you will accept my... offer, yes?"

-----

The splattering of blood, shell casings pinging off of the ground, the sound of a two-hundred pound body collapsing. Unfortunately in the context of what is usually San Paro, it was...quiet... to say the least. Another thug thinking they're something special... being shown just how special they truly are.

-----

"Well, do you?" Jackson asked, looking a little irritated.

A sly smirk crept across Rayleigh's face just before she shook her head, "Maybe next time."

Rayleigh rose up and threw her chair at the guard near the door. As he ducked down to avoid the chair and redraw his weapon, his efforts were met by a nice kick in the face by Rayleigh.

"You bitch!" The guard screamed at her before moaning again in pain as she stepped on his hand and pried the handgun from it. His moans were squelched with a couple more kicks to the side of the head.

Rayleigh then pointed the gun at Jackson and put a finger up to her mouth. Before she could even shush him, the other guard barged into the room.

The guards attention landed on Rayleigh for only a split second until a swift kick to the groin sent him down. Another swift kick to he head and she searched the guard for any weapons. "A Beretta... every thug in existence has one of these," Rayleigh said out loud to herself as she tucked pistol behind her back.

The sly smirk crept across Rayleigh's face again as she flipped Jackson the bird and began to try and make her way out of the club...

Adrian stood half at ready, the rifle aimed down at the man as he went down. He'd aimed low, but he couldn't be sure... Quick stepping across to a planter adjacent from the victim of his short burst of gunfire, he took a quick peek in the glass of the storefront. He knew that he could be seen from here, but the blood like orchids covering the wall told him he'd been the victor here. Eyelids drooped slightly, Adrian switched on the safety of his rifle, slung it over his shoulder, and pulled the FN HP-SA out of its holster. He felt like such a villain here.

The G36 skittered away from his foot as he kicked it away, kneeling down over the man. He seemed quiet-- didn't scream, didn't run. Though he'd been arrogant, it seemed he had a measure of pride. Adrian wondered why the man ended up as a criminal. Head shaking, he spoke quietly-- not a question, but a demand.

"What room," he said after a pause.

A tiny voice, all feathers, sweet candy and fresh laundry called out from the other room. A young boy, not recognizing the voice, froze in deadly fear.
