What headset will you be using?

Mostly speakers so I can listen to music etc, but if my flatmate is getting angry on me, then I'll use my Steelseries Siberia V2 Red headset.

I hope you don't intend on using a microphone while on your speakers. That is terribly annoying for anybody you play with.

I'd really stay away from the cheapass wall-mart type headsets. For 20 bucks you can get plenty of decent ones from logitech or if you are willing to spend a bit more I think about 30-40 bucks and you have a razor headset. Plenty of alternatives, but I don't trust the marts!

Totally agree, quickest way to get yourself kicked from a group. If you are using a mic you should be using a headset and NOT speakers.

i've been using the plantronics 995 for a while now and i love it. i have a different plantronics wired usb headset if my 995 battery dies.

For input I have a Sennheiser e835 running through a M-Audio Fast Track Pro.

For output I use my speakers :p

That said, I suspect any in-game VOIP will hit the disabled bin almost immediately. I have a pretty low tolerance for 'squeaky voice' and 'insecure internet tough guy' syndromes.

I'll be on Vent with my friends laughing at people instead.

Totally agree, quickest way to get yourself kicked from a group. If you are using a mic you should be using a headset and NOT speakers.

I call BS. I use a cardioid studio mic and speakers. I, however, know how to adjust my gain and zones so that the mic doesn't register the speakers unless I truly crank up the noise, which I don't in a 3 adult, 1.5 child household.

This is annoying when MOST people do it because they use a cheap condenser mic or similar and put it near the speakers. Of course you'll get feedback and noise from the speakers if you do that.
